Week 11

It has been a pretty good week for reading!  I finished reading The Walk by Richard Paul Evans and then I moved on to read the next book in the series Miles to Go.  I had set out to find an author who was similar to Nicholas Sparks and this author was recommended.  I have to say I agree, I found it easy to get get caught up in reading these books and I didn't want to put them down.  They are easy to read, which with my schedule and family is what I need!  As Alan continues his journey across the country he runs into a variety of individuals in which he helps in some way.  He continues to learn a lot about himself and others in general.  After I finished the last chapter I was a little confused about someone that he met but I am sure when the next book comes out that the character will be explained.  I will be looking forward for the next book to come out!

This is the third class that I have had the opportunity to pleasure read for an assignment.  I look forward to having this as an assignment because reading is something that I love to do in my spare time.  Two of my children are required to read for at least 15 minutes a night so this kind of fits in with their homework.  We can sit down together and have a little quiet time to enjoy our books. This is my last class so I will not have an assignment requiring me to read each week.   I hope to continue taking the time to read as my children continue with their weekly reading assignments.

The Walk

I downloaded another book on my phone to read this week.  I am reading The Walk by, Richard Paul Evans.  I am just over half way through with it.  This is a story about a guy who has lost everything.  His wife passed away, his company went under, he lost his vehicles, and then his house.  He decided to backpack across the country.  He has camped out a few nights and has met a couple of nice people along the way that have given him good deals on places to stay.  He keeps a journal along the way.  So far I am enjoying the book.  I look forward to reading what is going through his mind when he has no other distractions and nothing to worry about except what he is going to eat and where he is going to sleep.  Kind of helps you step back and realize what is important in life and what life is like when those things are gone.  I was really hoping to finish this book this week but it just didn't happen.  Too many things to do to get ready for the holidays!  I look forward to finishing this book and to searching for my next one!

Nicholas Sparks two weeks in a row!

This week I read Safe Haven by, Nicholas Sparks of course!  I skipped this book because I wasn't sure if I had read it or not, but once I went back and took another look I realized I had not.  This was one of my favorites of his.  I was almost afraid to finish it because I thought for sure something was going to happen that I wouldn't be happy about it.  It ended up having a perfect ending! It was a story about a girl who was married to a guy who was abusive but she escaped and started a new life in a small town. She becomes friends with Jo, a woman that moves in next door to her.  She falls in love with a guy named Alex who has two children.  This was an excellent book and my only regret is that I have now read all his books and need to find another author that I like just as much.

Another great Nicholas Sparks book!

I absolutely love all of Nicholas Sparks books!  I seen the book The Best of Me at the store last week and really wanted to buy it but I decided to buy it to read on my phone instead.  So glad I have a smart phone!  Anyway, this was a typical Nicholas Sparks book, which is a good thing!  This is the type of book that I can read in a day or two because it is so easy to read.  This book is a love story about a man named Dawson and a woman named Amanda.  They grew up living in a small town but life happened and they went different paths.  Twenty years later they were brought back together due to an unfortunate event.  They spent another wonderful weekend together before having to move on back to their lives.  There were decisions to be made and other meaningful event that took place, but I will leave those a surprise for anyone that may want to read it!

Great book for this week

I had struggled so much with the last book I decided to go for a simple, but entertaining book this week.  I just finished reading Ellen DeGeneres's book Seriously...I'm Kidding.  This is her third book that she has written.  I know I read her first one but I not sure about the second one.  Anyway, this book keeps you laughing and smiling the whole way through.  Very easy book to read, which is something I needed this week!  I don't watch her day time talk show very often since I have too much going on, but I do find her to be very good at entertaining.  I was able to finish this book in a week.  Most of my reading took place on Monday since I was off of work.  I was looking at the books at Walmart and wasn't sure if I wanted to buy one there or buy one on my phone to read on there.  I chose my phone with this book.  I find it really handy to have the book right there on my phone which is something I always carry with me.  I think I am liking this option more and more.  Well, on to pick out a book for next week!

Finally!!

I am not sure why it was so difficult for me to get through this book.  Life has been kind of crazy the past couple of weeks so maybe that has something to do with it.  I didn't blog last week, we were having some issues with our daughter and someone stealing her things and leaving her a nasty note so my mind was just not on school let alone pleasure reading.  I think we have worked things out for the time being.  Anyway, I made it through the rest of The Year of Fog.  Abby and Jake's relationship continued to struggle as they searched for Jake's daughter Emma.  Abby ends up going to Costa Rica to look for Emma.  She finds her on the beach and they sneak away while the people that took her away were in the ocean.  She calls Jake and he comes there to bring his daughter home.  It took 332 days to find his little girl, but she was found and she was alive.  Emma's biological mother had paid a couple $10,000 to take her.  She wanted to spend some time with her and Jake wouldn't let her.  In the end Emma was at home safe with her dad.  Jake would not let Abby back into his life.  He said that he and Emma needed some time alone.

The Year of Fog continued

So I am still reading this book.  Some books I can get into and I do not want to put them down, guess this is not one of those books.  It's not that I don;t like it because its not that bad, just doesn't really grab my attention.  I did have a sick kid this week so maybe I just didn't have the time or energy to get into it.  They are still searching for Emma. Abby keeps going back to the beach everyday to replay that day that Emma became missing.  The police have volunteers searching day and night.  The police seem to think that she was swept under a tide, but Abby believes that is not the case.  She knows that Emma would not get close enough to the water for that to happen.  The search for Abby is really taking a tole on her relationship with Jake.

Could not seem to get my 90 minutes in this week.  Hopefully I will finish this book next week and move on to one that can get me hooked!
